Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to allow one more homeless dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a bed at our special wholesale price.

Welcome to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS), a non-profit organization created in July 2005 to work directly with Baltimore City Animal Control. We take in homeless and unwanted animals in Baltimore City. BARCS' mission is to prevent cruelty to animals by: rescuing animals, finding homes for the neglected and abandoned animals, promoting the health and welfare of animals through education, advocacy and pet population control and working cooperatively with other animal advocacy groups, shelters, and community organizations to continually improve the lives of animals.
Since its inception, BARCS has made many improvements to the shelter and its operations. Each of these improvements have been made with the animals best interest at heart. One of our most recent changes was creating a fund for the rehabilitation of sick and injured animals. This fund allows BARCS to work with local Veterinarians to treat adoptable homeless animals.
In hopes of getting more animals adopted, we recently changed our hours of operation to make the animals more accessible to the public.
BARCS takes in almost 12,000 animals a year and we need your help! Your assistance, whether through adoption, volunteering, or donation will greatly support us in our mission and help find homes for the thousands of animals we receive each year. As a community, we can make a difference in the lives of homeless and neglected animals.

Order your beautiful holiday poinsettias from BARCS to help benefit the shelter's spay and neuter program. Sign up for 10 or more of the holiday plants and BARCS will deliver them straight to your home or office, just in time for the holidays.
These big, gorgeous red poinsettias are a great value for a great cause! Only $15 each, 25% off the florist's retail price!
Stock up and hand out the perfect decoration this holiday season! The poinsettias come in a 7" pot, standing approximately 17" tall with 10-15 blooming flowers. To order, simply fill out the order form and fax it to 410-329-9666. Orders must be pre-paid and the plants can be picked up at BARCS on Wednesday, December 3rd. Or, order 10 or more and they'll be delivered directly to your home or office on December 3rd. Now that's a Happy Holiday!
